Last night at The Mosaic we talked about how God doesn’t call us to be consumers of religious goods and services. He invites us to be participants in what He’s doing in the world. We discussed the fact that if we don’t participate, we can’t grow as followers of Jesus. We considered the cost of a culture of participation… an environment in which “everyone gets to play”. We determined that to foster such an environment we would have to value ownership over efficiency and celebrate participating over excellence; because it’s participation that strenghens people’s faith in God because they recognize they’re playing an essential role in the work God is doing.
In addition God blessed us by moving powerfully on a first time guest in our midst. Feeling totally humbled – and unworthy, really – of being allowed to witness and participate in God’s efforts on another’s behalf. Good Stuff!!
